The hot pad chemicals are activated when the pad is removed from the package and comes in contact with the air. Mini packs are designed to fit inside gloves while the large pack works better in pockets. Large size contains 1 handwarmer and lasts up to 15 hours, the mini is a 2 pack and lasts up to 8 hours.
